When One Challenge Leads to Another

For individuals and families facing a difficult transition, challenges rarely happen one at a time.

A household may need food assistance while a parent is looking for work. A newcomer may need help understanding available services, completing important paperwork, or communicating across a language barrier. Someone who is ready to move forward may simply not know where to begin.

Finding the right resources can itself become another barrier.

Spokane Slavic Association helps people navigate those challenges, connect with available resources, and take practical steps toward greater stability and self-sufficiency.

One Place to Find Support and a Path Forward

SSA brings practical community support together in one organization, helping individuals and families address immediate challenges while identifying opportunities to move forward.

  1. Food Assistance

SSA partners with Second Harvest and operates a weekly food bank, helping individuals and families access food resources in the Spokane community.

  2. International Resource Center

Our International Resource Center provides access to practical resources and community support for individuals and families facing immediate needs.

  3. Resource Navigation

SSA helps people understand available resources, identify next steps, and connect with community organizations and services that may be able to help.

  4. Translation & Practical Assistance

Language, paperwork, and unfamiliar systems can create additional barriers. SSA provides translation, interpretation, notary, and other practical services to help people move forward.

Support Can Continue Beyond the Immediate Need

Through SSA's broader programs, community members may also connect with workforce and employment assistance, educational opportunities, business support, youth and family programs, and other services designed to encourage long-term self-sufficiency.

Community Support Requires More Than Donated Goods

Food, clothing, and donated items can meet important immediate needs — but making community services available week after week requires much more.

Financial contributions help SSA maintain the infrastructure behind the work: the people who assist community members, the facility where services are provided, transportation, program supplies, technology, outreach, and the day-to-day costs of keeping programs accessible.

Your donation helps turn available resources into organized, reliable community support.

And unrestricted financial support gives SSA something especially valuable: the flexibility to respond where resources are needed most.
